WHAT IS YCPT?
The Youth Community Project Team (YCPT) is a youth-led, social justice-focused organization under KAFSC that engages in projects to raise awareness for and advocate against domestic violence. We attend weekly Friday meetings to undergo training and workshops for this cause. During these weekly meetings, YCPT members present lessons on topics such as leadership, communication, Elder Abuse, Domestic Violence around the world, and unhealthy relationships. By executing our projects at a larger platform, we aim to educate our local youth about this overlooked issue and to build a community to fight against it.
YCPT has participated in several outreach events such as the Purple 5K Run, the Silent March, KAFSC 30th Anniversary Gala, and more. We have also partnered with local businesses in our area to help raise awareness. After each YCPT semester, a conference is hosted in which members present their gained knowledge on the issue to our local community. We hope to further aid people, especially during these uncertain times,by spreading awareness about domestic violence through a social media campaign.
